AMI Headquarters, Cascais, Portugal 5th prize - competition 2008

No início de 2008 o atelier obteve o seu primeiro prémio com a ajuda de colaboradores “internos”, foi um 5° prémio. Na mente de todos está uma noite (nos dias de entrega) em que se realizou uma maquete, éramos 5 num espaço (o anterior atelier) de 10m². Hoje, por bons motivos para o atelier, recordou-se esse projeto.

Desde esse momento, após o entendimento da proposta vencedora, convencemo-nos que a adoção de que uma boa estratégia de arquitetura, é um grande passo para se vencer um concurso. No caso do vencedor do Concurso para a nova sede da AMI, o arquiteto Pedro Reis, a sua posição, entre outras, foi evidenciar a importância de um “mero” armazém, voltando-o para a rua principal (em vez de o secundarizar).

In early 2008 the studio won their first prize with the help collaborators “interns”, it was a 5th prize. On everyone’s mind is a night (in the days of the delivery) in which we have made a model, with 5 persons in the same 10 sqm space (in the former studio). Today, for good reasons for the studio, we recalled that project.

Since that time, after we understood the winning proposal, we convinced ourselves that adopting a good architectural strategy, is a big step towards winning a competition. In the case of the Competition winner for the new AMI headquarters, the architect Pedro Reis, his strategy, among others, was to demonstrate the importance of a “mere” warehouse, turning it to the main street (rather than hiding it).
